Etiquette Tests Are Carried Out In The English Cafe

Tea Cosy Rooms café has passed for the most terrible
institution in the neighborhood in the English city of Brighton. Its
owner was nicknamed a Fascist and one should follow a number of strict
rules established by the host in order to have a cup of a drink and not
to be ignominiously given the heave-ho therewith.

David Daly, the
owner of the tearoom, cherishes the prestige of his institution as the
apple of his eye; he is notable for a rather tough temper at that. Some
visitors who “dared” to plunge their cookies into the cup of tea or to
put their elbows on the table had time to become convinced of this
already. They were turned out from the café for all these “obscene
deeds” with the subsequent advice to follow etiquette rules next time.

Among
the other rules that were established by David Daly there are the
following ones: not to offend the Queen, not to pass lumps of sugar to
each other and not to sip tea from a teaspoon. It is also forbidden to
speak on the mobile phone and to talk in a loud voice and it is
prohibited to talk at all while one is playing the piano in the café.

“People
should follow the rules. If they don’t, they are obliged to leave the
café. We offer a real art of tea drinking, but not just mugs of coffee
as in an ordinary dive”, - the 30-year-old owner of the tearoom
explained.
